Murray Case - Photographer

Murray Case is one of Melbourne’s most established commercial photographers. He specialises in advertising, fashion and food photography.

Born in the small north western Victorian town of Birchip on 1st December 1956, Murray has always had a passion for photography and composition.

In 1975, he undertook a three year diploma course at Phillip Institute of Technology in Art & Design. Whilst studying, Murray attracted the attention of his head lecturer, Henry Talbot, who was to be a great influence on his work. Henry previously owned an advertising and fashion photography studio regarded as one of Australia’s best, and his knowledge of photography and dealing with clients proved an invaluable resource in Murray’s training.

After 18 months working as a photographer’s assistant, Murray became a photographer at ABC TV studios in Melbourne, where he spent the next two years honing his photographic skills. This role gave him considerable experience in portrait and set photography as well as dealing with celebrities and film and TV crews.

Murray started his own studio in 1982, and with more than twenty-five years in the field he has extensive experience in all aspects of photography. The studio is situated in Yarraville – a 10 minute drive from the central business district of Melbourne. Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen and 9 metre x 9 metre seamless cyc background with drive in access. Murray’s strong strategic relationships allow him to draw on a network of professionals, including stylists, make-up artists, set and prop designers, and animators to create the ideal team to maximise the impact of each campaign.

Murray’s client list is extensive and is testament to his versatility and talent. As well as being recognised as one of Melbourne’s finest commercial photographers, Murray has over 15 years experience in photography for animation and has worked in collaboration with Neil Goodridge from Boing Productions to produce numerous television commercials.
